The Immigration Issue Can Be Solved By Using Scriptural Principles of Compassion and the Law
Monday, December 31st, 2007By Les Herron The laws of the land are quite clear when it comes to immigration and almost everyone follows them with the exception of people crossing the Mexican/US borders. The vast expanse that creates our borders, the ease of crossing over, the level of corruption and poverty in Mexico, and the prosperity of the United States makes the temptation just too strong for many to resist. The principles of compassion are also quite clear when it comes to treating the least of these as we would treat Jesus himself. The Parable of the Good Samaritan tells us to take care of our neighbor and that our neighbor is someone in need. The Book of Leviticus even mentions that the treatment of immigrants should be kind, loving, and treated with the same dignity as one of us. Those people who are in the United States without documentation are here illegally and are therefore breaking the law. Nonetheless they are here, therefore our neighbors, and should be treated with dignity and love. Just being in a country that borders ours makes them our neighbors. Are these two principles of law and compassion, both of which are in the Bible, contradicting each other? Can we uphold the laws and still show compassion? Can we show compassion and still uphold the laws of our nation? The answer is, yes we can. Here are some of my thoughts on the immigration debate: 1. We must recognize that our borders have to be closed This is without question an obvious fact yet in the midst of the shrill emotions of the immigration debate we have lost our memory of 9/11 and the cost we paid for weak immigration law and enforcement. 2. We must see the majority of the illegal immigrants who are currently here as a benefit and not a threat. At the same time we must do all we can to protect our country from the thugs, gang members, convicts, and child abusers that regularly cross the border and terrorize the immigrant community. 3. We must not allow those declaring complete amnesty to use such language that declares that these immigrants have rights that they just dont have; specifically, the right to be here in America. That right does not exist for someone who has entered illegally and is in fact available according to law to those who follow said law. 4. Think about this: what would happen if all the Mexicans who are streaming across the border took it upon themselves to better the government and economy of their native land? Certainly then their country would be in economic competition with us instead of a servant to us (I know that is politically incorrect and sounds insensitive but it is the reality of what is). 5. Remember that politicians are doing what they do best by lying out of both sides of their mouths. Most of them are not inherently concerned about following the laws of the land nor are they interested in the welfare of the illegal immigrants. They want to maintain and/or strengthen their current political base and weaken their opponents, all the while making sure that any votes they do cast dont come to haunt them in the future. 6. Remember also that the nature of the media is to tell a lie so watch it with a careful eye in the same way you would watch a thief in your house. 7. When you find yourself without peace and there is confusion about the immigration issue just remember that God knows right where you are and will give you peace and clarity if you just ask Him. Which side of the river do you find yourself on when it comes to the immigration debate? Well, this is one debate you will be on safe and stable ground if you have one boot planted on the side of compassion and one boot planted on the side of law; and both eyes looking for a workable resolution. Precious metal coins of value were exchanged in even Our Lord’s day, as were livestock, produce, wine, textiles, and precious metals by weight. Paper currency, ATM cards, government issued checks, direct deposits, food stamps, and the like, are all part of the Beast’s system. During the 1st half of the coming Great Tribulation, ‘Gold’ will continue to be exchanged as it is known to be of value. Many readers will remember when the U.S.A. was on a ‘Silver Standard’ variation of ‘The Gold Standard.’ When I grew up in the 1960s, many people were upset hen because ‘The Federal Reserve’ had removed all of the gold and silver from the U.S. Treasury in Fort Knox. While much of the precious metal - in the form of gold and silver bricks - had not “Physically” left the United States - it was known to have been transferred to the vaults of ‘The World Bankers - The Federal Reserve.’ Do you remember when our ‘Old Paper Money was Recalled’? Whatever their denomination, the bills were called ‘Silver Certificates’. Emblazoned on the face side of each paper One Dollar bill - for example - were the words: “This certifies that there is on deposit in the Treasury of the United States of America one dollar in silver payable to the bearer on demand.” Until the official date of recall took effect, any person could go into any bank and demand a silver dollar coin in exchange for the ‘Silver Certificate’. By the mid-60s very few genuine silver coins were still in circulation. The banks had intercepted them, silver dollars, fifty cent pieces, quarters, and dimes were replaced with cheap shiny coins made with metals of little value. Today, even our nickels are not real nickel and our ‘Copper pennies’ are not real copper. When I recently attempted to flatten a penny with my hammer - to make something - I heated it over an open flame. My “Copper Penny” turned black and crumbled. LOL Reflect on it… Yup, we have been raped and - our money of any real value - pillaged. Double LOL. What does it say on our current paper bills - even the larger denominations with their hidden metal wires embedded within them for easy tracking and to avert counterfeiting? “Federal Reserve Note.” What is a note but a promise to pay? It is simply a beastly promise to pay- an IOU - and there need be nothing on deposit to back it up.According to WikipediA: “The amount of Silver Certificates in circulation depended directly upon the amount of silver bullion in the Treasury vaults. As people redeemed the certificates for bullion or silver dollars, the notes were shredded, because the notes had lost their backing and could not be recirculated unless there were more silver being produced. The price of silver was also rising. In 1960, it was nearing $1.29, which meant that silver dollars were worth more than $1. This meant that people would receive their silver dollars, and melt them down for the bullion, thereby reducing the amount of silver in circulation, which was already falling. In March 1964, the Secretary of the Treasury halted redemption of Silver Certificates for Silver Dollars. In the 1970s, large numbers of the remaining silver dollars in the mint vaults were sold to the collecting public for collector value. Silver Certificates were abolished by Congress on June 4, 1963 and all redemption in silver ceased on June 24, 1968. Paper currency is still valid legal tender without the Silver Certificate, instead being backed simply by the strength of the U.S. economy. According to the U.S. treasury, “The notes have no value for themselves, but for what they will buy. In another sense, because they are legal tender, Federal Reserve notes are “backed” by all the goods and services in the economy.” When ‘The New World Order” assumes international power, the money of all of the nations will be worthless. Do you think that with all of the people - who willingly take the ‘Mark of The Beast’ - none will be too honest to do business with us? I think we will have little problem finding many who will - for their own profit. Especially if we are willing to let them - by their standards - ‘Rip us off.’ Doing business with God’s elect and other ‘Dissident Enemies-Of-The-State’ will have to be worth more to those scoundrels than the bounties they could collect by simply ‘Turning us in.’ There was a time when ownership of gold had many restrictions. Gold jewelry was normally exempted from restrictions. Of course - it still is. LOL I think I will look good wearing gold jewelry. Will you? So what if people begin calling you by the name “Goldie”? As part of this former restrictions process, many nations - including the U.S. - banned private ownership of gold either de jure or defacto. In the United States Franklin Delano Roosevelt using the Trading With the Enemy Act for statutory authority to abrogate gold and silver clauses in U.S. Securities and impose fines of up to $10,000 on those who refused to do so. Over this period FDR passed two laws prohibiting U.S. citizens and the Federal Reserve ownership of gold, Executive Order 6102 of 1933 and the Gold Reserve Act of 1934. Jewelry, private coin collections, and the like were exempt from this ban, which in any case seems not to have been enforced too zealously. In 1975 all restrictions on the right of American citizens to own gold were abolished. Now, back to WHY it is important that we earn lots of money fast - which we can legally convert to gold. The provisions to declare “Martial law” are already in place - as are “Civilian Concentration Camps” also. To activate “Martial Law” and “Civilian Concentration Camps” - a necessary requirement when the “New World Order” is ushered into absolute power for the ‘Beast’ - requires only two signatures in the United States. Those signatures are of the then seated President and his Attorney General. I wouldn’t want to bet my families’ lives that we would be safe in “That place” again if I were you. No doubt, when ‘The Great Tribulation’ HAS come, you hope to be safe with those that you love. Many Christians say that their faith and hope is “In Jesus,” and/or in their “Church.” I do agree that our hope should be in Jesus, His Word, and in the heeding of His warnings. But with the ‘Church’ - rapidly moving toward a universal theology whereby all major and minor ‘Christian’ denominations will be united - I find such faith unbelievable. The ‘New World Order’ will embrace a ‘One World Church’ or more reasonable ‘Universal’ theology.
